FATHER JOHN WELCOMES YOU TO SAINT BRIGID PARISH AND TO OUR PARISH WEBSITE.
Fr. John Sureau came to St. Brigid's on June 29, 2022 after serving for six years as the Pastor at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Center Moriches. Previously, Fr. John served as a transitional deacon at St. Anne’s Church in Garden City, Associate Pastor at Holy Cross R.C. Church in Nesconset (2011-2012) and Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church in Lindenhurst (2012-2016). Fr. John was ordained to the priesthood on December 3, 2011. Fr. John also served as the Executive Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Regional Catholic School, Principal of the school from 2018-2020, coordinator of the REACH research program (2020-22) and as a social worker in the school (2020-22)
Fr. John is originally from West Islip. He was born and raised there, attending Our Lady of Lourdes School and St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School. His mom, sister, and brother still live in West Islip. Fr. John’s dad passed away in 2016. After graduation from high school, Fr. John attended St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue and continued his education at SUNY Stony Brook, the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, and Fordham University.
Prior to entering the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception as a seminarian, Fr. John served as a campus minister, social worker and teacher at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School and as the Coordinator of Worship at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in West Islip. Additionally, he worked as a social worker at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. Since 2005, Fr. John has been a social worker at Hope House Ministries, working primarily with young people and their families impacted by addiction. In addition to his primary work at St. John’s, Fr. John continues to offer his time at Hope House as a clinical social worker and assists the Office of Prison Ministry in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
Fr. John was formally installed as the Pastor at St. Brigid's on February 18, 2023.

El P. John Sureau llegó a Santa Brígida el 29 de junio de 2022 después de servir durante seis años como párroco en la Iglesia R.C. de San Juan Evangelista en Center Moriches. Anteriormente, el P. John sirvió como diácono transitorio en la Iglesia de Santa Ana en Garden City, como párroco asociado en la Iglesia R.C. de la Santa Cruz en Nesconset (2011-2012) y como párroco asociado en la Iglesia R.C. de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro en Lindenhurst (2012-2016). El P. John fue ordenado sacerdote el 3 de diciembre de 2011. El P.
