About Youth@SaintBrigid

Youth@SaintBrigid offers high school students an opportunity to get together each week and socialize, share, learn, grow and do service in our community.  Our growth as disciples of Jesus didn’t stop at Confirmation and Youth@SaintBrigid allows you to live out all you have learned and have fun doing it.

This isn’t another class for you to sit in, it’s an opportunity to make friends, and figure out what it means to be a Catholic teenager today.  In addition to our service activities, there will be guest speakers, movie nights, retreats and a whole lot more!

We have a lot of great events planned this year, things like:

Midnight Runs- where we bring food, clothing and other supplies to the homeless living on the streets of New York City, the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, Retreat experiences and our Teen in Action service mission.

Our group consists of teens from many different high schools (Catholic and public.)

We understand how busy you all are, so if you can’t make it one week, just come on over the next.  We are here every Sunday from October through June (except when we have holiday weekends.)

This is YOUR youth ministry...

Be involved in one, some or all of our events!

Meet Our Youth Minister

Vince Buzzeo is a husband and father of three. Vince’s faith development was accelerated when he became a grade school catechist at St. Brigid, Westbury in 1994.

In 2000, at the encouragement of his Pastor, he enrolled in the Diocesan Pastoral Formation Institute (PFI). Upon gaining his certificate in 2002, Vince subsequently completed additional certificates in Family Ministry & Advocacy (2003), Youth Ministry (2004) & Spiritual Growth (2006).

As Coordinator of Youth Ministry at St. Brigid Church, Vince works with high school teens in ongoing faith formation and spiritual growth by offering prayer, retreat, Christian leadership development and service mission experiences.

Vince was trained in Spiritual Direction under the Sacred Space/Holy Listening internship at St. Ignatius Retreat House and has been in practice since 2007. He has completed the 19th Annotation Retreat.

In June 2012 he completed his internship in Retreat House Ministry at St. Ignatius Retreat House, under the direction of Sister Karen Doyle, SSJ, and he is currently a Staff Associate at the Cenacle Retreat House in Ronkonkoma.

Vince has facilitated programs in Workplace Spirituality, Young Adult Retreats, a program for Couples Hoping to Be Parents and a retreat experience based on the best-selling book, The Shack.  In addition, he is one of the facilitators of a monthly Men’s Prayer group in Port Washington.

Currently, Vince is a Vice President for a major financial institution’s Risk Management division.

His life’s scripture theme is  1Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Peanut Butter Gang

Each month from October through June, Youth@SaintBrigid hosts a monthly community service activity called Peanut Butter Gang where participants gather to prepare and package 300-500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for delivery to the Hospitality Too Soup Kitchen located at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Brentwood.  The sandwiches are delivered to agencies across Nassau and Suffolk counties helping to feed the hungry among us right here on Long Island.

Peanut Butter Gang meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 8am until approximately 9:30am in Code Auditorium (St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope School gym.)

Participants are asked to bring a loaf of white bread to supplement a generous monthly donation by the Sanchez family (parishioners.)

Other donations accepted include:

Creamy Peanut Butter

Squeezable jelly or jam

sandwich bags (fold over preferred)

food preparation gloves

Rosa, Kristen, Elena, Christina, Gina... and Vince look forward to seeing you there
